Our Vision, Mission, Targets
Vision: To promote the health renewal of Africa through increased access to an adequate supply of safe blood.
Mission: To facilitate capacity building of Blood Services in Africa to deliver adequate, accessible and affordable safe blood through appropriate best practices.
Values: SBFA adheres to the guidelines, recommendations and ethical principles of the World Health Organization (WHO), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRCRCS) and the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT).
Key aims and objectives:
•To facilitate the development of sustainable national blood services.
•To support development of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation in
Africa.
•To promote the implementation of WHO’s, and other internationally recognized,
quality management systems.
• To develop appropriate collaborative partnerships with WHO, and other
relevant partners, in order to assist in synergizing activities and improve
blood safety at country level.
Targets
The countries which suffer from the highest burden of HIV infected people globally are located in Africa. These countries, and those which receive no assistance for their blood services, are prioritized by SBFA to receive as much support as possible to secure a safe blood supply.The following countries in sub-Saharan Africa are targeted fro Safe blood
